 Glycyrrhizae, Radix (Chinese: Gan Cao; English: licorice) moderates and harmonizes the characteristics of other herbs. Goes well with any herb formula. Tonifies the Spleen and benefits the qi, moistens the Lungs, and stops coughing. Enters all 12 acupuncture channels. Research has shown that it has an anti-inflammatory and anti-allergic effect. Reduces the toxicity of many substances including nicotine, caffeine, and cocaine. Glycyrrhizae is the most frequently used herb. Use 3-9 grams in four ounces of water.
